Couch Stretch

The Couch Stretch is a simple yet effective exercise to help increase flexibility and mobility in your hips and thighs. It is an excellent movement for those who spend a lot of time sitting, as it can help counter the stiffness that can result from being sedentary. The exercise is named so because you can easily use your couch or a similar piece of furniture to perform it.

Step-by-step instructions

Start by getting on your hands and knees in front of a couch or chair.

Place the knee you want to stretch on to the edge of the couch or chair with your shin against the back of the chair or cushion.

The other leg will go out in front of you, foot flat on the ground with your knee bent.

From this position, engage your core and slowly raise your torso upright. You should feel a stretch in your front thigh and hip.

Hold this position for the desired stretch time, then slowly release and switch legs.
